The Director of the Sussex County Division of Senior Services to Retire
(Newton, NJ) The County of Sussex, Department of Human Services announces that Mary Lou Schnurr will retire from her position as Director of Senior Services as of July 1, 2011. Ms. Schnurr, appointed by the Sussex County Board of Chosen Freeholders, has served in this position since January 2007.
Mary Lou began her career with the County of Sussex in August of 1998 as the Director of the Homestead, which is the County's 102-bed long term care facility. During her tenure, Mary Lou has made significant contributions by providing guidance and dedication to the seniors she has served in both directorship roles.
During her distinguished career with the County, Mary Lou has realized many accomplishments. She is a NJ Certified Assisted Living Administrator, as well as a Certified Eden Associate. In 2004 she received a Certificate in Human Resources Administration, and in 2005 Mary Lou graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson University with a Masters in Administrative Science (MAS). She is an accomplished speaker/presenter on the local, state and national level. Mary Lou is also a Master Trainer for two evidence-based health promotion initiatives: "A Matter of Balance: Managing Concerns About Falls" and "Project HEALTHY BONES." Susan Zellman, Freeholder Deputy Director, stated, "The County of Sussex and the Seniors of Sussex County have benefitted from Mary Lou's innovative programs, that will continue to enrich our seniors for years to come."
