Zeoli, Zellman Chosen to Lead Sussex County
Board of Chosen Freeholders in 2011

Highlights of this year's Reorganization were the appointments of Richard A. Zeoli and Susan M. Zellman to serve as Director and Deputy Director, respectively, of the Freeholder Board in 2011. Both Director Zeoli and Deputy Director Zellman were sworn in by the Honorable Frederic G. Weber.

The Sussex County Historic Court House was the setting for the Annual Reorganization Meeting of the Sussex County Board of Chosen Freeholders on Monday, January 3, 2011.

Highlights of this year's Reorganization were the appointments of Richard A. Zeoli and Susan M. Zellman to serve as Director and Deputy Director, respectively, of the Freeholder Board in 2011. Both Director Zeoli and Deputy Director Zellman were sworn in by the Honorable Frederic G. Weber. Director Zeoli was elected to the Board of Chosen Freeholders in November, 2009, and has served as County Freeholder since January 1, 2010. Deputy Director Zellman has been a member of the Board since January, 2001, having served as both Director and Deputy Director in past years.

Freeholder Director Zeoli stated, "2011 will be a financially challenging year for Sussex County, but I am confident that the goals of this Freeholder Board will not be overshadowed by these challenges. We will work as a united front to change the way government does business to meet the economic reality of the times we live in. The taxpayers of Sussex County will always be first and foremost in every decision this Freeholder Board makes in 2011."

Freeholder Director Zeoli resides in Byram Township with his wife Brigid and is the Founder and President of RZC Impact, an executive communications training firm, and the author of The 7 Principles of Public Speaking: Proven Methods of a PR Professional.

Deputy Director Zellman is the Executive Director of the Housing Partnership, a United Way Agency serving Morris, Sussex, and Warren Counties. She lives in Stanhope Borough with her husband Doug.

Parker Space, elected to a three year term in November, 2010, took his oath of office as County Freeholder and was sworn in by the Honorable Frederic G. Weber. Freeholder Space has been a member of the Board since June, 2010, having filled the vacancy left by former Freeholder Hal Wirths when he was appointed Commissioner of the NJ Department of Labor and Workforce Development. Freeholder Space is President of Space Farms, a family-owned zoo and museum, located in the Beemerville section of Wantage Township. He resides in Wantage Township with his wife Jill and their three children.

Richard A. Vohden, elected to a three year term in November, 2010, took his oath of office as County Freeholder and was sworn in by the Honorable Frederic G. Weber. He now officially joins the Board as its newest member. Freeholder Vohden is a Veteran, having served in Korea. He worked in the construction industry for 35 years prior to fulfilling his lifelong dream of owning a farm. The owner of Pequest Valley Farms, he has been a full-time farmer for the past 17 years. For more than 14 years he has actively served on numerous boards and committees, both at the municipal and county levels, with a special interest in environmental, planning, and open space issues. Freeholder Vohden resides in Green Township with his wife Faith. He has three grown children.

Phillip R. Crabb, appointed to the Board in February, 2008, filling the vacancy left by former Freeholder Gary Chiusano after he was elected to the New Jersey State Assembly, will begin his third year as a Freeholder. He is employed by Pfizer and resides in Franklin Borough with his wife Sally and their three children.

Michael Strada, elected in November, 2010, to a three year term as Sussex County Sheriff, was sworn in by the Honorable Frederic G. Weber. He lives in Hampton Township with his wife Kim and their three children. Sheriff Strada replaces former Sheriff Robert E. Untig who chose not to run for re-election.

Regular meetings of the Board of Chosen Freeholders are held on the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month (unless otherwise noticed) at 6:00 p.m., in the Freeholder Meeting Room, located at the Sussex County Administrative Center, One Spring Street, Newton, New Jersey. The public is invited to attend.
