Project Healthy Living "Kickoff" for Seniors
(Andover, NJ) Seniors, caregivers, and health care providers are invited to join the Sussex County Division of Senior Services and Skylands RSVP Volunteer Resource Center as they "kickoff" their schedule of evidence-based health promotion initiatives designed to support active aging and independence. Attendees will hear about four proven programs that enable seniors to "take charge" of their health, including: Project Healthy Bones, Move Today, A Matter of Balance: Managing Concerns About Falls and most notably, Take Control of Your Health, a Chronic Disease Self-Management Program (CDSMP) that was recently highlighted in the January/February 2010 issue of AARP magazine article entitled "Take Charge of Your Health."
The 2010 Project Healthy Living "Kickoff" will take place at The Adam Todd, 263 Highway 206, Andover, NJ, 07821, on Wednesday, February 24, 2010, from 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. The event includes a full breakfast buffet, an overview of the Project Healthy Living initiatives, success stories from graduates and peer leaders of the programs, and information about volunteer leadership opportunities. Special guest, Susan Lachenmayr, MPH, CHES, of the NJ Department of Health and Senior Services will comment on statewide health promotion initiatives and the grant awards made to Sussex County to support its Chronic Disease Self-Management Program.
There is no charge for the Project Healthy Living "Kickoff" but pre-registration by February 15, 2010 is required. Contact the Sussex County Division of Senior Services by phone at 973-579-0555, by fax at 973-579-0550, or via email at email@example.com to register.
