The fifth annual Lusscroft Farm Wine and Cheese/Jersey Fresh event will take place on Saturday, September 12th from 1:30-4:00 pm. This is a fundraising event for the restoration of Lusscroft Farm - tickets are $50 per person. This year, we will be honoring the Sussex County Technical School Culinary program and students for their continued support and participation in making this event a success. There will be an international food theme so set your taste buds accordingly!
Lusscroft Farm is a 578 acre parcel located on Neilson Road in Wantage administered by the NJ Division of Parks and Forestry/High Point State Park. It was most recently used as the Beemerville 4H camp where many children from all across the state came to enjoy beautiful Sussex County. The vision for Lusscroft Farm is to reopen it as an Agritourism/Ecotourism Center. Before that can happen, there is a great deal of restoration that must be done to the buildings. The annual Wine and Cheese/Jersey Fresh event is a fun way of supporting Lusscroft Farm restoration efforts while enjoying the afternoon in a beautiful setting. Our Sussex County farmers donate their fruits, vegetables, and meats, which are used by the Sussex Technical School Culinary Program students who transform them into delicious appetizers and desserts. One of our local wineries, CAVA Winery on Route 94 in Hardyston will provide the beverages for tasting - all this while being serenaded by a light jazz ensemble. The Manor House will be open and there will be displays from various organizations involved in the restoration efforts at Lusscroft including the Heritage and Agriculture Association, Inc. (www.lusscroftfarm.org). Registration information is available by clicking the link above or contacting the Sussex County Office of Conservation and Farmland Preservation at 973-579-0500.
