The residents, their families and the employees of the Sussex County Homestead enjoyed a Wild West Themed Family Barbecue under the tent at the Homestead. Master of Ceremonies, Bernie Weishaust made sure everyone in attendance had a great time. Volunteer, Lisa Killion from Willow Creek Farm set up a petting zoo with an assortment of animals including baby chicks, Shetland ponies, a rabbit, a donkey and goats. Cowboy Larry and his Wild West Show performed several different shows for us. Although we couldn’t find a volunteer to put an apple on their head for the Tomahawk throwing, several family members did participate in the Tomahawk throwing card game. The audience also enjoyed the lassoing and rope tricks provided throughout the day.
Homestead volunteers managed to “wrangle” several people for a variety of games, which included saw horse wrangling, horseracing shoot out gallery and piñata.
