Press Release - Plea of Tanis Posey

November 6, 2017
 
     Sussex County Prosecutor Francis A. Koch announced the entry of a guilty plea to an indictment before the Honorable William J. McGovern III, J.S.C., at the Sussex County Courthouse in Newton on November 6, 2017, by Tanis Posey. 
 
     Posey, age 41 of Newton, pled guilty to Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance, a third degree crime, Resisting Arrest, a Disorderly Persons offense, and Driving While Intoxicated (second offense), a motor vehicle violation.  Sentencing is presently anticipated for January 5, 2018. 
 
     In pleading guilty, the defendant admitted to being in possession of cocaine, resisting arrest by not cooperating with arresting officers and driving while intoxicated on November 10, 2016. 
 
     The case was investigated by Ptl. Jose Morales and Ptl. Shawn Burke of the Newton Police Department. 
 
     Posey was represented by Daniel Marchese, Esq. and the State was represented by Assistant Prosecutor Donald F. Cox, Jr.
