Sussex County Prosecutor Francis A. Koch announced the sentencing of Lea Applegate, who appeared before the Honorable William J. McGovern, III, J.S.C. at the Sussex County Courthouse in Newton on June 23, 2017.
Applegate, age 21, of Mine Hill, was sentenced to three years Probation, She received 51 days of jail credit for time served. The defendant must also complete a TASC evaluation and follow all recommendations, enter into an IOP treatment until completion, submit a DNA sample, pay $1,041.46 in restitution and pay court fines and fees.
She pled guilty on May 17, 2016, to Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance and Shoplifting, both crimes of a third degree.
The defendant took several video games along with a co-defendant from the Franklin Walmart in July of 2016. In September of 2016, Hopatcong police were responding to a disturbance call where the defendant was found to be in possession of Heroin.
