Sussex County Prosecutor Francis A. Koch announced the sentencing of Michael Heresi, who appeared before the Honorable William J. McGovern III, J.S.C., at the Sussex County Courthouse in Newton on October 6, 2017.
Heresi, age 25 of Hopatcong, was sentenced to 30 days of home detention and three years of probation. He was ordered to write a 250 word letter of apology to the victim, surrender his computer at issue in this matter, secure and maintain employment, attend AA/NA meetings four times per week, submit to a TASC evaluation and follow any and all recommendations made from same, obtain his GED and pay fines and fees totaling $305.00.
He pled guilty on August 21, 2017, to Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance, a third degree crime, and Cyber Harassment, a fourth degree crime.
On August 2, 2016, the defendant was stopped in Hopatcong for a motor vehicle violation and was in possession of heroin. He also posted an indecent photo of a victim to an online social networking site on April 14, 2017.
