Sussex County Prosecutor Francis A. Koch announced the sentencing of Laurie Banta, who appeared before the Honorable William J. McGovern III, J.S.C., at the Sussex County Courthouse in Newton on October 6, 2017.
Banta, age 44 of Hewitt, was sentenced to five years of probation with jail credit for time served. She was ordered to submit a DNA sample at her own expense and pay restitution of $14,850.00 and fines and fees totaling $155.00.
She pled guilty on August 21, 2017 to Theft, a third degree crime.
She took jewelry from a Fredon Township home in November 2012.
Banta was represented by Shaun Morgan Russell, Esq., and the State was represented by Assistant Prosecutor Nikoletta Agouras.
