Press Release - Plea of Chase Wainstein

Sussex County Prosecutor Francis A. Koch announced the entry of a guilty plea to an indictment before the Honorable William J. McGovern III, J.S.C., at the Sussex County Courthouse in Newton on September 18, 2017, by Chase Wainstein.
Wainstein, age 27 of Jefferson, pled guilty to Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance, a third degree crime, and Driving Under the Influence (second offense), a motor vehicle offense. Sentencing is presently anticipated for November 3, 2017.
On August 18, 2016, the defendant was the driver of a vehicle that crashed into a support cable of a utility pole and then into several trees in Sparta Township. In pleading guilty, the defendant admitted to driving under the influence and being in possession of Alprazolam.
The case was investigated by Patrolman Scott Elig of the Sparta Township Police Department.
Wainstein was represented by Jeffrey Bronson, Esq., and the State was represented by Assistant Prosecutor Donald F. Cox, Jr.
