Press Release - Plea of Caleb Bryson

     Sussex County Prosecutor Francis A. Koch announced the entry of guilty pleas to accusations before the Honorable William J. McGovern III, J.S.C., at the Sussex County Courthouse in Newton on June 26, 2017, by Caleb Bryson.
 
     Bryson, age 21, of Hopatcong, pled guilty to Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance, Theft, Receiving Stolen Property, Fraudulent Use of a Credit Card, two counts of Conspiracy to Commit Burglary, two counts of Burglary, two counts of Forgery, all third degree crimes, and Shoplifting and Resisting Arrest, both disorderly persons offenses.  Sentencing is presently anticipated for August 25, 2017.
 
     In pleading guilty, the defendant admitted to using a stolen credit card to make two purchases at a Hopatcong Rite Aid on February 22, 2017.   He admitted to being in possession of 14 Xanax pills and to shoplifting multiple bottles of alcohol from a Wantage liquor store on March 4, 2017.  He admitted to conspiring with others to enter a vehicle in Hopatcong on March 6, 2017, and to taking jewelry and other items from the vehicle.  He admitted to receiving a stolen iPhone on March 6, 2017, in Hopatcong.  He admitted to conspiring with another to burglarize a Vernon home on April 2, 2017, and to running and hiding from police officers who arrived to investigate the reported burglary.
 
     The cases were investigated by Trooper D. McCarthy of the New Jersey State Police, Patrolmen C. Lotito and G. Bruzzese of the Hopatcong Police Department, and Patrolmen S. Rovetto, J. Mangano and S. Perry of the Vernon Police Department. 
 
     Bryson was represented by William Oake, Esq., and the State was represented by Assistant Prosecutor Magdalen Czykier, Esq., and Donald F. Cox, Jr., Esq.
