County Fleet Hosts Air Brake Training

Chuck Cross, Senior Technical Service Representative for Haldex Brake Products Corp. instructs mechanics from the Sussex County office of Fleet Management and other surrounding townships on the specifics of heavy duty air brake systems.

Hardyston: The Sussex County Office of Fleet Management recently hosted an air brake systems seminar at the new Wheatsworth Rd. facility in Hardyston Twp. just outside Hamburg on Thursday, January 24th. Mechanics from Sussex County Fleet, Hardyston Twp., Sparta Twp., Hampton Twp., Chester Twp., as well as from Braen Quarries of Sparta, and two (2) instructors from Sussex County Technical School were in attendance.

Haldex Brake Products Corp of Kansas City MO, who supplies some of the components on the county's heavy duty trucks, was very gracious in providing this training, via their association with Dover Brake of Lake Hopatcong.

Everybody took something away from this class, especially some newer employees, who were more familiar primarily with automobile hydraulic brakes and maybe not so adept at air brake systems. Even some of the more experienced mechanics commented on how well the instructor explained things. He covered the entire air system, all of its components as well as their functions and common problems associated with each.

Sussex County mechanics Reeves Tooker and Ryan Mosteller getting personalized training from instructor Cross.

The Wheatsworth Road facility is an ideal location to hold trainings because it is centrally located in the county and has a large training/conference room directly adjacent to the main shop facility.

More classes are planned for the spring for in depth engine electronics training associated with the new heavy duty dump trucks the county has on order. We always keep an eye out for additional training and hope to host it here in Hardyston.
