The Sussex County Food Pantry and Ronetco ShopRite Partners in Caring received the Sussex County Chamber of Commerce Business Partnership Award during the Chamber’s 27th Annual Quality in Living Awards ceremony at the Lafayette House, on Thursday, March 29, 2012.  The Business Partnership Award recognizes businesses and individuals who have pushed beyond the standard levels of achievement to truly excel in their chosen industries and in their commitment to the community.

One in five Sussex County residents do not have enough food to eat.  Through a partnership developed between the Ronetco ShopRite Partners in Caring Program and the Sussex County Food Pantry, more than three tons of food have been received and delivered in the past year to those who are in need.

Ronetco ShopRite’s dedicated management team, staff and customers have come to the rescue when the Sussex County Food Pantry’s shelves were bare.  The Balesville Congregational Church sponsors the Food Pantry to receive food from the NORWESCAP Food Bank through the Ronetco ShopRite Partners in Caring Program.  Not only does Ronetco ShopRite’s generous support to the Food Bank allow the Food Pantry to stretch their purchasing power, they play a very important role in bringing hunger awareness to Sussex County.

With the downturn in the economy, the number of individuals and families using the Sussex County Food Pantry has increased by more than 300%.  The pantry runs solely on the work of its volunteers and the support of donations.  In addition to the individuals served, the Sussex County Food Pantry is able to help other pantries throughout the County when they find themselves in need of food.

Our County is very fortunate to have Ronetco ShopRite Partners in Caring and the Sussex County Food Pantry’s dedication of working together to eliminate hunger.
