Once again, it's Fair time (check www.njstatefair.org for complete details) and the Sussex County Farmers Market will be open for business in front of the greenhouse. Make this your one stop shopping for fresh, locally grown fruits, vegetables, flowers, meat, cheese and value added products. As an option to "Fair food", stop by and pick up some peaches, plums or early apples to munch as you enjoy the many exhibits in the Agricultural Division of the Fair. Remember - fresh picked equals great taste! And who can resist Jersey tomatoes and sweet corn? Our Sussex County farmers bring products picked fresh from their farms each day - we anticipate offering everything you need for a healthy salad, patriotic red, white or blue potatoes, garlic, onions, squash, peppers, carrots and melons, among others. Then there are the beautiful perennials to entice hummingbirds and butterflies to your yard. Or, bring home a scented bouquet of fresh cut flowers and herbs to remind you of happy Fair moments for the week to come. There will also be offerings of value added, locally made items including goat milk soap, jams, jellies, pickles, llama wool, honey and other goodies. New this year will be local meat and farmers cheese. When you visit the Sussex County farmers market, you are not only getting healthy, great tasting food, but you are supporting our local farmers and helping them remain viable. Whether you live in Sussex County, or just enjoy visiting us, Buying Fresh and Local helps maintain a quality of life we all value. So stop by the Farmers Market and help keep Sussex County, New Jersey's Greenest County, GREEN!
