Release Date: October 25, 2009

The mission of the Sussex County Education Partnership is to develop, promote, and enhance collaborative efforts between schools, child behavioral health system of care partners, and DYFS to improve the well being of children in Sussex County, keeping them at home, in school, and out of trouble.

The Sussex County Education Partnership

The Sussex County Education Partnership Kick-off Event occurred on October 12, 2009 at McNiece Auditorium at the Sussex County Technical School. Over 170 school personnel and children's behavioral health providers attended and participated in the event. The event was held to promote and encourage participation in the Sussex County Education Partnership Committee.

The Education Partnership was developed as a result of the Child Welfare Reform that took place across New Jersey. The Division of Youth and Family Services (DYFS) underwent major transformation and the Division of Child Behavioral Health Services was established under the Department of Children and Families to provide a system of children's behavioral health care service. Since that time, the child behavioral health system of care has changed and grown in an effort to better serve the behavioral health needs of the children and families in New Jersey. However, the system of care remains difficult to navigate for families and professionals alike.

This committee will serve as the primary planning body representing the Sussex County Youth Services Commission Education Partnership, with the task of prioritizing needs as determined by the collaborative discussions and feedback from the Education Partnership cross-training sessions, as well as data collected by the Children's Systems Review Committee. Membership of this Committee should include, but is not limited to representatives from each of the Child Behavioral Health system partners, representatives of the County Office of Education, representatives from the School District and or School Building Representatives and Community Child Behavioral Health providers.

The mission of the Sussex County Education Partnership is to develop, promote, and enhance collaborative efforts between schools, child behavioral health system of care partners, and DYFS to improve the well being of children in Sussex County, keeping them at home, in school, and out of trouble.
