Press Release - Sentencing of Chase Wainstein

     Sussex County Prosecutor Francis A. Koch announced the sentencing of Chase Wainstein, who appeared before the Honorable William J. McGovern III, J.S.C., at the Sussex County Courthouse in Newton on December 1, 2017.
 
     Wainstein, age 27 of Jefferson, was sentenced to five years of probation to run  concurrently with five years of probation in Morris County.  He was ordered to submit to a substance abuse evaluation at the discretion of probation, attend AA three times per week, complete 30 days of community service work, attend 48 hours in the Intoxicated Driver Resource Center (IDRC), serve two days in jail in IDRC, submit a DNA sample at his own expense, and pay fines and fees totaling $2,344.00 in Sussex County and $675.00 in Morris County.
 
     He pled guilty on September 8, 2017, to Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance, a third degree crime, and Driving Under the Influence (second offense), a motor vehicle offense, in Sussex County.  He pled guilty to Possession of Marijuana, a disorderly persons offense, in Jefferson Township on November 9, 2017.    
 
     On August 18, 2016, the defendant was the driver of a vehicle that crashed into a support cable of a utility pole and then into several trees in Sparta Township.  Wainstein drove under the influence and was in possession of Alprazolam. 
 
     Wainstein was represented by Jeffrey Bronson, Esq., and the State was represented by Assistant Prosecutor Donald F. Cox, Jr.
