     Sussex County Prosecutor Francis A. Koch announced the entry of a guilty plea to an accusation before the Honorable William J. McGovern, III, J.S.C. at the Sussex County Courthouse in Newton on November 27, 2017 by Teresa Verbout.

 

     Verbout, age 52, of Sparta, pled guilty to first degree Aggravated Manslaughter.  Sentencing is presently scheduled for January 26, 2018.

 

     The defendant admitted that on December 8, 2015, she was driving North on Route 15 South while intoxicated.  While operating the vehicle traveling in the opposite direction of traffic, Ms. Verbout admitted to striking a vehicle driven by the victim, Robert J. Hunter, III head-on, causing his death.

 

     Verbout was represented by Daniel Colfax, Esq. and the State was represented by Assistant Prosecutor Brent M. Rafuse.
