Sussex County Department of Human Services Offers "Foreclosure Alternatives Workshop"
(Newton, NJ) The Sussex County Department of Human Services, Human Services Advisory Council (HSAC) will hold a free "Foreclosure Alternatives Workshop," on Wednesday, June 10, 2015, from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at The Center, 65 Newton-Sparta Road, Newton, NJ. Housing counselors will be available from the Housing Partnership, a HUD-certified counseling agency for mortgage delinquency and default resolution, located in Dover, NJ, as well as Real Estate professionals and attorneys to discuss multiple foreclosure alternatives and options. A light dinner will also be provided. County residents can learn about scams which have an upfront fee and promise a loan modification from "loan modification specialists."
Confidential, individual counseling sessions will be available, by appointment only, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. by calling Chris Brogan, Foreclosure Housing Specialist of the Housing Partnership, at (973) 659-1414. By signing up for a session, homeowners can work with an advocate, free of charge, who will guide them through the process and advise them on possible options to avoid foreclosure. During the confidential one-on-one counseling session, counselors can work with the homeowner to determine the status of the mortgage delinquency, create and review the household budget and credit report, work with a loan servicer and the homeowner to research options to avoid foreclosure and to, subsequently, prepare an individualized action plan.
A formal presentation on foreclosure alternatives will take place that evening from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The information packed presentation is open to the public, however, if an individual appointment is needed, it would be the responsibility of that person to make an appointment. For further information on this workshop, please call Sarah Balzano, Human Services Advisory Council Coordinator, at (973) 579-0559 ext. 1247 or email her at firstname.lastname@example.org.
