Ebola, previously known as Ebola hemorrhagic fever, is a rare and deadly disease caused by infection with one of the Ebola virus strains.

The Sussex County Department of Environmental and Public Health Services understands the growing concerns of our residents regarding the recent Ebola epidemic, affecting multiple countries in West Africa. Although the risk of an Ebola outbreak in the United States is very low, we are working closely with the New Jersey Department of Health (NJDOH), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and other community partners to take the necessary precautions.
