Homestead Awarded Healthcare Facility Emergency Preparedness Grant

The Sussex County Homestead has been awarded a $25,000.00 Healthcare Facility Emergency Preparedness Grant by the New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services.
The Sussex County Homestead has been awarded a $25,000.00 Healthcare Facility Emergency Preparedness Grant by the New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services. This grant will provide necessary funding for the purchase of communication and technological equipment. The Homestead staff will receive the education and training needed to utilize this equipment to enhance the Homestead’s preparedness to communicate in the event of an emergency, while maintaining routine operations at the nursing home.
Through the use of satellite phones, blackberries and teleconferences, the Homestead staff will have the capability of communicating with Health and Emergency Management officials in the event of chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear and/or explosive incidences, outbreaks of infectious disease or any other disaster. Jake Lighten, Director of the Sussex County Homestead stated, "This Emergency Preparedness Grant will provide the necessary funding for the training and equipment needed to communicate effectively in the event of an emergency."
