Press Release - Plea of Victor Ortega

     Sussex County Prosecutor Francis A. Koch announced the entry of a guilty plea to an accusation before the Honorable William J. McGovern III, J.S.C., at the Sussex County Courthouse in Newton on March 6, 2017, by Victor Ortega.

     Ortega, age 22 of Bronx, New York, pled guilty to Theft, a third degree crime.  Sentencing is presently anticipated for April 21, 2017.

     In pleading guilty, the defendant admitted to taking two bikes from a bike rack of a vehicle parked in the Appalachian Hotel garage in Vernon on June 6, 2015.

     The case was investigated by Patrolman William Terrill of the Vernon Township Police Department.

     Ortega was represented by Steven Insley, Esq., and the State was represented by Assistant Prosecutor Donald F. Cox, Jr.
