Vanluvender, age 43, of Newton pled guilty to Theft, a third degree crime, Theft, a fourth degree crime, two counts of Forgery, a third degree crime, and Theft by Deception, a third degree crime. Sentencing is presently anticipated for March 10, 2017.
In pleading guilty, the defendant admitted to taking and forging a check in January of 2016 in Andover Township and cashing it at a place in Parsippany. He also admitted to accepting deposits in May and June of 2016 from Byram residents to perform tree services but never did the work or returned the money.
The cases were investigated by Trooper T. McCarthy of the New Jersey State Police and Detective R. Tierney with the Byram Township Police Department.
Vanluvender was represented by Janine M. Cerra, Esq., and the State was represented by Assistant Prosecutor Donald F. Cox, Jr.
