Please review the following message from Alan Talarsky, Environmental Scientist 1, Food and Drug Safety Program, DHSS, concerning the U.S. Food and Drug Administration's Class 1 Recall of Whole Foods Market's "365 Everyday Value Kalamata Olive Tapenade" and the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service's Class 1 Recall of Morgan Foods' "Kroger's, ready to serve SOUP, CHUNKY Classic Chicken Noodle" due to the presence of undeclared allergens, milk and soy.

Whole Foods is voluntarily recalling 6,000 jars of a 32,000-jar lot of its 365 Everyday Value Kalamata Olive Tapenade because the product may contain glass fragments, which may cause injury if ingested.

The code for the product is found on the top of the lid and the number is: B.B. 14/09/2009 L 257/06 with time stamps ranging from 14:00 through 16:00. Jars with time stamps within this range should be discarded and not consumed. The recalled product was distributed nationwide to Whole Foods Market stores. It comes in an 8.12 ounce jar with a purple and brown label. The barcode number (UPC) for the product is 0009948241757.

Morgan Foods, an Austin, Ind., firm, is voluntarily recalling approximately 6,317 pounds of 18.6-ounce cans of "Kroger, ready to serve SOUP, CHUNKY Classic Chicken Noodle. The product label indicates that the can contains chicken noodle soup: however, the can contains chicken, potato and broccoli soup with cheese. The soup contains milk and soy, known allergens, which are not declared on the label. Each label bears the establishment number "P-1469" inside the USDA seal of inspection. The bottom of each can also bears the "Best by" date and package code "BB 10/26/08, CCBRP J2606."

The soup was produced on October 26, 2006 and was distributed to retail stores nationwide.

No action is being requested of local health agencies at this time for either of these recalsl. If any requests for assistance are received from either the FDA or USDA-FSIS, the Food and Drug Safety Program will contact you.
