Sussex County Prosecutor Francis A. Koch announced the sentencing of Rafael Sanchez and Michael Hirsch, who appeared before the Honorable William J. McGovern, III, J.S.C. at the Sussex County Courthouse in Newton on March 31, 2017.
Sanchez, age 28, of Manhattan, New York, and Hirsch, age 63, of Bronx, New York, were each sentenced to two and one-half years Probation. They both must also submit DNA samples and pay $155.00 in court fines and fees. Sanchez must also obtain his GED.
Sanchez pled guilty on January 25, 2017 to 4th degree Criminal Trespass. Hirsch also pled guilty on January 25, 2017 to 3rd degree Theft.
In September of 2011 the defendants, and a third co-defendant, broke into a Sparta Township residence taking various items of jewelry. They then pawned the jewelry in New York City.
Sanchez was represented by Nathan Kittner, Esq., Michael Hirsch was represented by Leanne Healy, Esq. and the State was represented by Assistant Prosecutor Brent M. Rafuse.
