Sussex County Prosecutor Francis A. Koch announced the sentencing of Andre Febus, who appeared before the Honorable William J. McGovern, III, J.S.C. at the Sussex County Courthouse in Newton on March 17, 2017.
Febus, age 25, of Stockholm, was sentenced to two years Probation and a four year suspension of his driver’s license. He must also complete the Intoxicated Driver Resource Center program. When his driver’s license suspension is completed he will then have a two (2) year ignition interlock on his vehicle. The defendant must also complete thirty days community service, undergo a TASC evaluation and follow all recommendations, submit to random urine monitoring, submit a DNA sample and pay $9,933.00 in court fines and fees.
He pled guilty on January 30, 2017, to two counts of third degree Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance and motor vehicle summonses Driving Under the Influence (second offense) and Refusal.
In November of 2015 the defendant was involved in a motor vehicle stop in Vernon and found with an open bottle of alcohol on his lap and in possession of cocaine. He appeared to be under the influence and did not cooperate with police, refusing a Breathalyzer test. During a separate motor vehicle stop in February of 2016 the defendant was a passenger in the vehicle and was found to be under the influence and in possession of Cocaine.
