Sussex County Prosecutor Francis A. Koch announced the sentencing of William Vanluvender, who appeared before the Honorable William J. McGovern III, J.S.C., at the Sussex County Courthouse in Newton on March 10, 2017.
Vanluvender, age 44 of Newton, was sentenced to three years of probation and credit for 80 days of time served. He was ordered to obtain/maintain employment, submit a DNA sample at his own expense, and pay restitution of $1,700.00 and fines and fees totaling $355.00.
He pled guilty on January 31, 2017, to Theft, a third degree crime, Theft, a fourth degree crime, two counts of Forgery, a third degree crime, and Theft by Deception, a third degree crime. The defendant took and forged a check in January of 2016 in Andover Township and cashed it at a place in Parsippany. He also accepted deposits in May and June of 2016 from Byram residents to perform tree services but never did the work or returned the money.
Vanluvender was represented by Janine Cerra, Esq., and the State was represented by Assistant Prosecutor Laura Nazzaro.
