Sussex County Prosecutor Francis A. Koch announced the entry of a guilty plea to an indictment before the Honorable William J. McGovern III, J.S.C., at the Sussex County Courthouse in Newton on December 19, 2016, by Brian Myrtle.
Myrtle, age 33 of Sparta, pled guilty to Defrauding the Administration of a Drug Test, a third degree crime. Sentencing is presently anticipated for January 25, 2017.
In pleading guilty, the defendant admitted to an effort to thwart detection of his use of heroin by providing his probation officer a fraudulent urine sample stored in a homemade storage device on May 4, 2016.
The case was investigated by Sheriff’s Officer Scott Haggerty of the Sussex County Sheriff’s Office.
Myrtle was represented by Steven Insley, Esq., and the State was represented by Assistant Prosecutor Donald F. Cox, Jr.
