Sussex County Prosecutor Francis A. Koch announced the sentencing of Gregory Kooz, who appeared before the Honorable William J. McGovern III, J.S.C., at the Sussex County Courthouse in Newton on December 2, 2016.
Kooz, age 21 of Hopatcong, was sentenced to three years of probation and two days in the Keogh-Dwyer Correctional Facility. He was ordered to complete 250 hours of community service work, submit to a TASC evaluation and follow all recommendations made from same, submit a handwritten letter of apology to all victims and pay fines and fees totaling $455.00.
He pled guilty on September 26, 2016, to Aggravated Assault, a fourth degree crime, Resisting Arrest, a disorderly persons offense, and Disorderly Conduct, a petty disorderly persons offense.
The defendant engaged in disorderly conducts and caused injury to officers responding to the report and resisted their efforts to place him under arrest on April 7, 2016, in Franklin.
Kooz was represented by Janine Cerra, Esq., and the State was represented by Assistant Prosecutor Seana Pappas.
