Sussex County Prosecutor Francis A. Koch announced the entry of a guilty plea to an accusation and to an indictment before the Honorable William J. McGovern III, J.S.C., at the Sussex County Courthouse in Newton on November 28, 2016, by Charles Southard.
Southard, age 27 of Hamburg, pled guilty to Theft, a fourth degree crime, and Burglary, a third degree crime. Sentencing is presently anticipated for January 13, 2017.
In pleading guilty, the defendant admitted to taking an iPad from a Franklin residence on June 26, 2016. He also admitted to entering a structure in Wantage for the purpose of committing a theft on August 21, 2016.
The cases were investigated by Detective Robert VanderPloeg of the Franklin Borough Police Department and Trooper S. Szwech of the New Jersey State Police.
Southard was represented by Steven Insley, Esq., and the State was represented by Assistant Prosecutor Donald F. Cox, Jr.
