Sussex County Prosecutor Francis A. Koch announced the sentencing of Candace Halpin, who appeared before the Honorable William J. McGovern III, J.S.C., at the Sussex County Courthouse in Newton on November 18, 2016.
Halpin, age 27 of Vernon, was sentenced to three years of probation with jail credit for 89 days time served. She was ordered to submit to mental health counseling and follow all recommendations made from same, attend weekly AA/NA meetings, submit a DNA sample at her own expense, and pay fines and fees totaling $1,880.00.
She pled guilty on October 11, 2016, to Possession of Heroin, a third degree crime, and Failure to Turn Over, a disorderly persons offense.
The defendant was in possession of 19 bags of heroin on May 12, 2012, in Vernon and failed to turn over 18 bags of heroin on October 11, 2012, in Newton.
Halpin was represented by Leanne Healy, Esq., and the State was represented by Assistant Prosecutor Donald F. Cox, Jr.
