Sussex County Prosecutor Francis A. Koch announced the entry of guilty pleas to an accusation and two indictments before the Honorable N. Peter Conforti, J.S.C., at the Sussex County Courthouse in Newton on November 1, 2016, by Branden Corey.
Corey, age 25 of Stillwater, pled guilty to two counts of Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance and to Joyriding, all third degree crimes, and to Failure to Maintain Lane, a motor vehicle offense. Sentencing is presently anticipated for December 7, 2016.
In pleading guilty, the defendant admitted to possessing 11 wax folds of heroin in Stillwater on January 14 and one wax fold in Newton on July 5 and to taking his girlfriend’s car without her permission on June 9 in Branchville.
The cases were investigated by Sgt. Michael Monaco of the Newton Police Department and by Trooper M.S. Zielinski, Trooper D.J. McCarthy, Trooper S.R. Szwech, and Trooper B.J. McNally of the New Jersey State Police.
Corey was represented by Steven Insley, Esq., and the State was represented by Assistant Prosecutor Shaina Brenner.
