Press Release - Sentencing of Thomas Pfefferkorn

     Sussex County Prosecutor Francis A. Koch announced the sentencing of Thomas Pfefferkorn, who appeared before the Honorable William J. McGovern, III, J.S.C. at the Sussex County Courthouse in Newton on October 28, 2016.

     Pfefferkorn, age 19, of Vernon, was sentenced to three years Probation on condition that he complete 300 hours of community service, obtain a mental health evaluation and follow all recommendations, continue with anger management counseling, write a 200 word letter of apology to the police officers, submit a DNA sample and pay $205.00 in court fines and fees.  

     He pled guilty on September 12, 2016, to third degree Aggravated Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer. 

     The defendant punched a pane of glass into a Vernon Police Officer’s face while the officer was investigating a possible vehicle hit-and-run, causing injury to the Officer’s face.

     Pfefferkorn was represented by Janine Cerra, Esq. and the State was represented by Assistant Prosecutor Sally Anne Monkemeier.
