Press Release - Sentencing of Rebecca Nelson

October 31, 2016
     Sussex County Prosecutor Francis A. Koch announced the sentencing of Rebecca Nelson, who appeared before the Honorable William J. McGovern, III, J.S.C. at the Sussex County Courthouse in Newton on October 28, 2016.

     Nelson, age 23, of Newton, was sentenced to 18 months Probation on condition that she complete 100 hours of community service, obtain a TASC evaluation and follow all recommendations, write 250 word letter of apology to the victim, submit a DNA sample, pay $1000.00 restitution, and $155.00 in court fines and fees.

     She pled guilty on September 7, 2016, to third degree Theft. 

     While the defendant was an employee at Weis Market in Newton she took $1000.00 without permission.

     Nelson was represented by Janine Cerra, Esq. and the State was represented by Assistant Prosecutor Sally Anne Monkemeier.
