Sussex County Prosecutor Francis A. Koch announced the sentencing of Eric Acton, who appeared before the Honorable William J. McGovern III, J.S.C., at the Sussex County Courthouse in Newton on October 21, 2016.
Acton, age 25 of Port Jervis, was sentenced to three years’ probation and 270 days in the Keogh-Dwyer Correctional Facility. He was ordered to submit a DNA sample at his own expense, to have no contact with the victim, to pay joint and several restitution of $17.50 and to pay fines and fees totaling $329.00.
He pled guilty on June 23, 2016, to Conspiracy and Aggravated Assault, both third degree crimes. The defendant conspired and agreed to participate and actually commit an assault on an individual on July 14, 2014, in Montague.
Acton was represented by William Oake, Esq., and the State was represented by Assistant Prosecutor Donald F. Cox, Jr.
