Sussex County Prosecutor Francis A. Koch announced the entry of a guilty plea to an accusation before the Honorable Stephen J. Taylor, J.S.C., at the Morris County Courthouse in Morristown on October 19, 2016, by John Colgate.
Colgate, age 35 of Stanhope, pled guilty to Possession of a Prohibited Weapon, a fourth degree crime, and Driving While Suspended, a motor vehicle offense. Sentencing is presently anticipated for December 9, 2016.
On April 6, 2016, he was stopped for a motor vehicle violation. In pleading guilty, the defendant admitted to possessing a taser and to driving while his license was suspended.
The case was investigated by Sergeant Michael O’Shea of the Hopatcong Police Department.
Colgate was represented by Maureen Ingersoll, Esq., and the State was represented by Assistant Prosecutor Donald F. Cox, Jr.
