Sussex County Prosecutor Francis A. Koch announced the sentencing of Jquan Williams, who appeared before the Honorable William J. McGovern III, J.S.C., at the Sussex County Courthouse in Newton on October 7, 2016.
Williams, age 18 of Trenton, was sentenced to three years of probation and 23 days’ time served in the Keogh-Dwyer Correctional Facility. He was ordered to submit to a mental health evaluation and follow any and all recommendations made, to complete an approved anger management program, to obtain his GED, and to obtain at least part-time employment. He was ordered to have no contact with the victim and pay fines and fees totaling $205.00.
He pled guilty on July 5, 2016, to Aggravated Assault, a third degree crime.
On April 21, 2016, the defendant had a hard plastic medical cast on his hand. He hit an individual with his casted hand causing a laceration requiring staples.
Williams was represented by Janine Cerra, Esq., and the State was represented by Assistant Prosecutor Donald F. Cox, Jr.
