Press Release - Plea of Gregory Kooz

     Sussex County Prosecutor Francis A. Koch announced the entry of a guilty plea to an accusation before the Honorable William J. McGovern III, J.S.C., at the Sussex County Courthouse in Newton on September 26, 2016, by Gregory Kooz.

     Kooz, age 21 of Hopatcong, pled guilty to Aggravated Assault, a fourth degree crime, Resisting Arrest, a disorderly persons offense, and Disorderly Conduct, a petty disorderly persons offense.  Sentencing is presently anticipated for November 4, 2016.

     In pleading guilty, the defendant admitted to engaging in disorderly conducts and causing injury to officers responding to the report and resisting their efforts to place him under arrest on April 7, 2016, in Franklin. 

     The case was investigated by Sgt. Seamus Geddis and Patrolman Jesse Babcock of the Franklin Police Department and Patrolman David Cowdrick of the Ogdensburg Police Department. 

     Kooz was represented by Janine Cerra, Esq., and the State was represented by Assistant Prosecutor Donald F. Cox, Jr.
