Press Release - Sentencing of Daniel Kutzler

     Sussex County Prosecutor Francis A. Koch announced the sentencing of Daniel Kutzler, who appeared before the Honorable William J. McGovern III, J.S.C., at the Sussex County Courthouse in Newton on September 16, 2016.

     Kutzler, age 26 of Port Jervis, was sentenced to two years of probation and 90 days in the Sheriff’s Labor Assistance Program (SLAP) and jail credit of 17 days.  If defendant violates, the balance of SLAP will be served in the Keogh-Dwyer Correction Facility.  He was ordered to have no contact with the victim, make joint and several restitution of $17.50, submit a DNA sample at his own expense and pay fines and fees totaling $175.

     He pled guilty on July 11, 2016, to Simple Assault, a disorderly persons offense.

     The defendant offered money to his co-defendant to scare the victim and resulted in the physical assault of the victim on July 14, 2014, in Montague.

     Kutzler was represented by Robert Mattia, Esq., and the State was represented by Assistant Prosecutor Donald F. Cox, Jr.
