Press Release - Sentencing of Scott Verhage Sr.

September 14, 2016 
     Sussex County Prosecutor Francis A. Koch announced the sentencing of Scott Verhage Sr., who appeared before the Honorable William J. McGovern III, J.S.C., at the Sussex County Courthouse in Newton on September 12, 2016.

     Verhage, age 53 of Highland Lakes, was sentenced to 90 days in jail, which the Court suspended, and a fine of $600.00.
     He pled guilty on September 12, 2016, to Hindering Investigation/Prosecution, a disorderly persons offense.

     In pleading guilty, he admitted to filing a false internal affairs complaint against Vernon Township police officers for the purpose of hindering the investigation and prosecution of his son’s criminal charges.
     Verhage was represented by Joseph Corazza, Esq., and the State was represented by Assistant Prosecutor Donald F. Cox, Jr.
