Press Release - Sentencing of Kit Pittenger

     Sussex County Prosecutor Francis A. Koch announced the sentencing of Kit Pittenger, who appeared before the Honorable William J. McGovern III, J.S.C., at the Sussex County Courthouse in Newton on July 8, 2016.

     Pittenger, age 50 of Newton, was sentenced to four years New Jersey State Prison.  He was given credit for one day time served.  Pittenger was ordered to pay restitution of $9,720.43 and fines and fees totaling $1,280.00.  His driver license was ordered suspended for two years.

     He pled guilty on May 23, 2016, to Burglary and to Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance (Heroin), both third degree crimes.

     The defendant entered an individual’s Stillwater residence between October 2, 2014, and January 26, 2015, without the owner’s permission and removed copper piping.  Upon his arrest, the defendant was found to be in possession of heroin.

     Pittenger was represented by Martin Morrison, Esq., and the State was represented by Assistant Prosecutor Stephanie LaCarrubba.
