Press Release - Plea of Michael Brinster

Sussex County Prosecutor Francis A. Koch announced the entry of a guilty plea to an accusation before the Honorable William J. McGovern, III, J.S.C. at the Sussex County Courthouse in Newton on May 31, 2016 by Michael S. Brinster.
Brinster, age 28, of Sussex, pled guilty to Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance, a crime of the third degree and fourth degree Theft by Deception. Sentencing is presently scheduled for July 29, 2016.
The defendant admitted that in February of 2016 he walked into Lowes in Hampton and took unopened packages of blinds and then returned them to the store without a receipt for a store gift card. When New Jersey State Troopers brought him to the Keogh-Dwyer Correctional Facility after his arrest he was found by Sussex County Sheriff’s and Corrections Officers to be in possession of Heroin.
Brinster was represented by Robert Schwartz, Esq. and the State was represented by Assistant Prosecutor Brent M. Rafuse.
