Sussex County Prosecutor Francis A. Koch announced the sentencing of Vincenza Ferrante, who appeared before the Honorable William J. McGovern, III, J.S.C. at the Sussex County Courthouse in Newton on May 13, 2016.
Ferrante, age 33, of Chester, New York, was sentenced to three years Probation on condition that she continue drug treatment, undergo a mental health evaluation and follow all recommendations, submit to random urine monitoring, submit a DNA sample, complete 300 hours of community service and pay $205 in court fines and fees.
She pled guilty on March 21, 2016, to fourth degree Assault by Auto and several motor vehicle summonses including Driving While Intoxicated, Refusal of Alcotest and Leaving the Scene of an Accident.
In November of 2015 the defendant was driving while under the influence when she ran into a vehicle stopped at a traffic light in Franklin, pushing that vehicle into oncoming traffic causing it to be hit again. She then left the scene of the accident.
Ferrante was represented by David Nufrio, Esq. and the State was represented by Assistant Prosecutor Brent M. Rafuse.
