Sussex County Prosecutor Francis A. Koch announced the sentencing of Thomas Roff, who appeared before the Honorable William J. McGovern, III, J.S.C. at the Sussex County Courthouse in Newton on May 13, 2016.
Roff, age 38, of Newton, was sentenced to three (3) years New Jersey State Prison with credit for 282 days time served and a six month loss of his driver’s license. He also must also submit a DNA sample and pay $1205.00 in court fines and fees.
He pled guilty on March 7, 2016, to third degree Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance.
In August of 2015 Newton Police were investigating an anonymous call regarding someone trying to sell Heroin near a local gas station. When Police arrived at the gas station they found the defendant who had fifty-one (51) bags of Heroin in his pocket.
Roff was represented by Steve Insley, Esq. and the State was represented by Assistant Prosecutor Brent M. Rafuse.
