Press Release - Plea of Richard Doty

     Sussex County Prosecutor Francis A. Koch announced the entry of a guilty plea to an accusation before the Honorable N. Peter Conforti, J.S.C., at the Sussex County Courthouse in Newton on April 25, 2016, by Richard Doty.

     Doty, age 58 of Newton, pled guilty to Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance, a third degree crime, and a violation of probation.  Sentencing is presently anticipated for June 3, 2016.

     In pleading guilty, the defendant admitted to having three bags of heroin in his pocket on February 25, 2016.

     The case was investigated by Detectives VanNieuwland and Muller of the Newton Police Department. 

     Doty was represented by Steven Insley, Esq., and the State was represented by Assistant Prosecutor Donald F. Cox, Jr.
