     Sussex County Prosecutor Francis A. Koch announced the entry of a guilty plea to an indictment before the Honorable William J. McGovern III, J.S.C., at the Sussex County Courthouse in Newton on April 21, 2016, by Scott Verhage, Jr.

     Verhage, age 27 of Highland Lakes, pled guilty to Receiving Stolen Property, a third degree crime, three counts of Fraudulent Use of a Credit Card, third degree crimes, and Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance not in an original container, a disorderly persons offense.  Sentencing is presently anticipated for June 3, 2016.

     Each of the crimes to which the defendant entered a plea of guilty relates to items stolen from residences and vehicles in the Highland Lakes section of Vernon Township between December 2013 and June 2014.

     The case was investigated by the Vernon Township Police Department.

     Verhage was represented by Nicole Rizzolo, Esq., and the State was represented by Assistant Prosecutor Donald F. Cox, Jr.
