Press Release - Plea of Andre Chavarria
Release Date: March 31, 2016

March 30, 2016
Sussex County Prosecutor Francis A. Koch announced the entry of a guilty plea to an indictment before the Honorable William J. McGovern III, J.S.C., at the Sussex County Courthouse in Newton on March 28, 2016, by Andre Chavarria.

Chavarria, age 40 of Newton, pled guilty to Driving While License is Suspended for a Second or Subsequent DWI Violation, a fourth degree crime, and the motor vehicle offenses of Driving While Intoxicated (third offense) and Failure to Keep Right.  Sentencing is presently anticipated for May 13, 2016.

On July 11, 2015, a police officer executed a motor vehicle stop upon observing the defendant crossing the double yellow line and the fog line. In pleading guilty, the defendant admitted not having a driver license because of a driving while intoxicated conviction and he admitted to driving while intoxicated (third offense) and failing to stay within his lane of travel.

The case was investigated by Corporal Hassloch of the Sparta Police Department.

Chavarria was represented by Anthony Guerino, Esq., and the State was represented by Assistant Prosecutor Donald F. Cox, Jr.
