Press Release - Sentencing of Alexander Checa

Sussex County Prosecutor Francis A. Koch announced the sentencing of Alexander Checa, who appeared before the Honorable William J. McGovern, III, J.S.C. at the Sussex County Courthouse in Newton on March 24, 2016.
Checa, age 19, of Staten Island, New York, was sentenced to a term of Probation and was given credit for 177 days already served in the Keogh-Dwyer Correctional Facility.
He pled guilty on March 9, 2016, to fourth degree Obstruction Administration of the Law.
The defendant fled on foot from New Jersey State Troopers after having been given an order to stop. This occurred while the Troopers were investigating a possible attempted burglary in Lafayette in September of 2015.
Checa was represented by John Murphy, Esq. and the State was represented by Assistant Prosecutor Brent M. Rafuse.
