Sussex County Prosecutor Francis A. Koch announced the entry of a guilty plea to an accusation before the Honorable William J. McGovern III, J.S.C., at the Sussex County Courthouse in Newton on March 21, 2016, by Shane Clancy.
Clancy, age 22 of Vernon, pled guilty to Fraudulent Use of a Credit Card, a third degree crime, and to Uttering a Forged Instrument, also a third degree crime. Sentencing is presently anticipated for May 6, 2016.
In pleading guilty, the defendant admitted to using a stolen ATM card on May 30, 2015, to attempt to make purchases at Vernon A&P, Vernon Liberty Gas Station, Vernon Pizza Station, and Serenity Smoke Shop in Butler. He also admitted that on June 9, 2015 at the Lakeland Bank in Vernon, he attempted to cash a check knowing that the signature of the account holder on the check was a forgery.
The cases were investigated by Ptl. Bradley Pindyck and Sgt. Charles Reid of the Vernon Township Police Department.
Clancy was represented by Robert Mattia, Esq., and the State was represented by Assistant Prosecutor Donald F. Cox, Jr.
