Press Release - Sentencing of Cheryl Ogden

     Sussex County Prosecutor Francis A. Koch announced the sentencing of Cheryl Ogden, who appeared before the Honorable William J. McGovern, III, J.S.C. at the Sussex County Courthouse in Newton on March 15, 2016.

     Ogden, age 54, of Vernon, was sentenced to three years Probation on condition that she continue mental health counseling, obtain a TASC evaluation and follow all recommendations and pay $155.00 in court fines and fees.

     She pled guilty on January 25, 2016, to Aggravated Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer, a crime of the third degree. 
When Vernon Police were responding to a welfare check on a female they found the defendant to be very distressed.  While officers were trying to help her she was resisting and kicked, then bit, one of the officers, breaking the skin.

     Ogden was represented by Janine Cerra, Esq. and the State was represented by Assistant Prosecutor Brent M. Rafuse.
