Sussex County Prosecutor Francis A. Koch announced the sentencing of Stephanie Herd, who appeared before the Honorable William J. McGovern III, J.S.C., at the Sussex County Courthouse in Newton on March 11, 2016.
Herd, age 26 of Tempe, Arizona, was sentenced to 18 months of probation with early release after one year if she is compliant. Supervision may be transferred to Arizona. She must continue treatment, perform 50 hours of community service work, and submit a DNA sample at her own expense. She was ordered to pay fines/fees totaling $1,254.00.
She pled guilty on February 9, 2016, to Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance (Heroin), a third degree crime, and Failure to Keep Right, a motor vehicle violation.
On October 10, 2013, she was stopped by police for a motor vehicle violation and arrested for an outstanding warrant. During processing for the arrest, it was revealed that the defendant was in possession of nine bags of heroin.
Herd was represented by Leanne Healy, Esq., and the State was represented by Assistant Prosecutor Laura Nazzaro.
